Autonomous guided robots (AGRs) combine the features of and autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and are increasingly being used in warehouses and in ‘smart farming’ applications, such as automated harvesting.
We can supply a wide variety of industrial grade DRAM, flash-based SSDs and embedded system peripherals, such as cameras, for use in AGRs, AVRs and AMRs.

Our most popular product being used in AGRs is Innodisk’s DDR4 3200 8G Wide Temperature SODIMM Non-ECC unbuffered memory module.
This DDR4 SODIMM is very compact and delivers speeds of up 3200MT/s, hence its popularity in AGRs, AVRs, AMRs and other space-constrained applications requiring high performance memory.
While the 8GB module is currently most popular 4, 16 and 32GB capacities are also available.
All modules in the range have 260 pins, require 1.2V, have a PCB height of just 1.18 inches and can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 95°C (Tc); this last feature making them particularly ideal for use in AGRs, AVRs and AMRs that need to operate in harsh environments.

Fit for Purpose
Memory used in AGRs, AGVs and AMRs must meet a variety of requirements due to real-time data processing needs and the fact that the vehicles/robots might be performing safety-critical tasks and working around humans.
Low latency and high throughput help meet the real-time performance criteria, enabling rapid access to mission critical data such as maps/models and surrounding environment data fused from cameras, LIDAR and other sensors.
For non-volatile (i.e. NAND Flash), it must withstand frequent program/erase (P/E) cycles.
As for storage capacity, basic navigation requires between 4 and 16GB. Advanced perception and ML inference requires a lot more.

One form of AGV growing in popularity is of course the autonomous delivery robot. Some are wheeled vehicles. Others are drones.
In both cases, and unlike indoor AGVs, these vehicles are likely to be exposed to the elements, temperature extremes, and shock and vibration.
